Shakeer Rahman is a civil rights attorney based in Los Angeles.

Shakeer has been in-house counsel for the Stop LAPD Spying Coalition since 2021. He previously worked as an Impact Litigation Attorney at The Bronx Defenders, where he was a Skadden Fellow. Before that, he was a law clerk to Justice Mariano-Florentino Cuéllar on the Supreme Court of California and to Judge Beverly Martin on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

From 2023 to 2025, Shakeer was appointed a lecturer at UCLA School of Law, where he co-taught a clinic on community lawyering and public records research, and he has been recognized as a “Rising Star” in civil rights law by Super Lawyers magazine (2025 and 2026) and as “Best of L.A. Legal” for civil rights law by Los Angeles magazine (2026).

Shakeer received a J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he was a Harvard Law Review editor, and a B.A. in history from Columbia University, where he won the Taraknath Das Foundation Award.

Shakeer is licensed to practice in California and New York as well as numerous federal courts.
